Tuesday Briefing: June 30, 2020

  1. Welcome to Tuesday Briefs! This format is going to be a new way of keeping in touch with you. I hope to regularly communicate with you through these briefs about information about the church. These will be sent and shared through various media and will replace the daily updates on Facebook.
  1. The Daily Facebook updates have ceased for a specific reason — I am no longer on Facebook. This decision is a personal choice that I have been weighing for some time. I have not closed my account, only de-activated for the foreseeable future. I am still available on messenger and have ways of getting information on Facebook. For me, the social platform had become too toxic and not as effective.
  1. No Sunday Nights Worship in July - I have been pushing us to have year-round Sunday Evening worship. I think this is not just an elective addition to our Sunday schedule, but something that should be a part of our regular Lord’s Day routine. However, in evaluating the month of July, several factors lead me to think that we need to do something different for this month.
    • Many of our key people will be out of pocket for July
    • Many of you travel during July on vacation
    • We are still not ready to start back with in-person Evening Worship services.
  1. Sunday Evening Bible Study will be in place of worship for July.
    • These will still be on our YouTube live channel
    • They will again go live at around 6 pm on Sunday Evenings
    • They will have Bible teaching and Prayer.
  1. Sermon Sneak Peek - “Rooted In Worship”

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (ESV) John 4:24

This Sunday, we will continue with our “Rooted” Series. The Christian life must be rooted in worship. Yet, much of what we call worship today fails to meet the criteria that Christ gives divine worship.

It must first be in Spirit. It is not just a being somewhere physically present. It is not only involved in mental exercise. To worship God in Spirit means that your heart is engaged after it has been made new through the gospel.

Furthermore, worship has to be in truth. Where do we find the truth? The truth is found only in the Word of God. Here alone in the Word has God laid out what we are to believe and how we are to live.

Worship must be both rooted in the Holy Spirit and the Holy Word of God. Come this Sunday morning and see how you, your family, and our church must be rooted in worship that is in Spirit and Truth!
